Custom APPs after 24.10-RC2 auto migration won't auto start after reboot

Just give 24.10-RC2 a try in VM. Quite concerned about APPs migration since I have quite a lot deployed on 24.04 now. (Thankfully I’ve already migrated them to ix-charts custom-app after that TrueCharts thing, lol)

So far I’ve tried:

  1. Install TrueNAS SCALE 24.04.2.2 in VMware Workstation Pro
  2. Setup datasets/pools, etc
  3. Setup Application service, install Uptime Kuma via Custom APP (ix-charts):
    louislam/uptime-kuma:latest
    Port Fwd: Container 3001 → Host 13001
    Enable WebUI Portal on 13001
    All others: leave default
  4. Upgrade to 24.10-RC2 in WebUI
  5. Reboot and see if the APPs are still working

So far I’m glad to see the auto migration works, however the auto restart policy was by default set to: “No - Does not restart the container under any circumstances.”

→ Which is kind of confusing, I assume apps should auto start across reboots?

“Unless Stopped” probably makes more sense to me. What do you guys think? Thanks.

So the basic answer here is that the restart policy doesn’t exist in Kubernetes, so there is nothing to migrate from the previous custom app. As for why No is selected as the default, I’m not sure. It could potentially prevent restart loops in the event that the app errors, but I’m not sure if that was the intention there.
