Problem/Justification
In my TrueNAS installation I have three different pools backups, dozer, and tank. Right now every time I open the datasets panel in the UI, it defaults to having backups open, but it is almost never the pool/dataset that I actually need to interact with. I assume it does this because “backups” is first in an alphabetical ordering. So I need to collapse backups and open tank or dozer to do what I need to do each time I open the interface.
Impact
This is purely a convenience feature. User impact would be fairly minimal. I’d save several clicks nearly every time I go into manage my datasets, but it is not dramatic.
Benefits are more streamlined experience when you have specific pools that you access far more often than others, especially if the pool that you access infrequently comes first alphabetically.
Disadvantages would be confusion if it wasn’t the expected behavior if someone forgets about the setting after they have set it or potential bugs introduced while implementing the feature.
User Story
As a user, I’d like to have the option to set either my tank or dozer pool as the dataset to expand by default when opening the Datasets tab in the webui. This could be a checkbox on this screen or put into the settings for a dataset (“Default expanded or collapsed” toggle in the dataset settings)
