I got my answer to the original question of deleting the main pool with the ix-application dataset.
When I deleted it, TN said it would have to move that and several other system datasets to the remaining pool. It tried to do so, but when it was all over I was left with no applications and no ix-applications dataset.
I think I’ll be doing a clean install.
