ECC UDIMM RAM Hikes and Finding a potential candidate for my build?

Hello guys!

So I was ready to pull the trigger on the build but then I saw the whole RAM fiasco thing happening and my RAMs (and their backups) disappeared.

So right now, I am trying to find a 32GB ECC UDIMM RAM that’s hopefully under 200 euros that I could buy with this build below:

Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Custom: AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 5655G

I found the Mushkin Proline MPL4E293MF32G28 for cheap but it seems like its 2RX8 and the motherboard says it only supports 1RX8 ones.

Am i doomed? Will changing to another mATX B550 board help me find something else? Could you find any other RAMs I could buy for under 200€ in a Greek store?

PS. Could the KTD-PE432E/32G work?

or KSM26ED8/16HD Kingston Parts Search - Kingston Technology which is 2666mhz but I will need to buy 4 for 64GB. Not ideal but if it goes to this, I can take it if there is no other option.

Price is variable: at the time the kit bought from me were new at the same 120€ price, until last week or 2 for those refurbished was 80€, now refurbished 120€ :melting_face: … still a better price overall respect other shops

Considering where DDR4 prices are currently going I’d seriously consider going AM5.

I built my machine earlier in the year with 2 sticks of Micron MTA18ASF4G72AZ-3G (2x 32gb). I hit some limitations with VMs recently so decided to buy another 2 sticks, at which point I wished I had just ordered 4x to start with. I was a nightmare, I ended up importing them from China using Aliexpress, and it wasn’t cheap. I also got hit with import taxes because it was a high value item.

The sad part is that I bought every part and I am not willing to return 2 items from 2 different stores (1 store is from abroad). I found some 16GB RAMs, will go for 4 and hopefully I won’t need more than 64GB in the near future. Probably not with mostly no VM usage really.

Those RAMs are 250€ here hahaha. 500€ is a lot.

I bought some new MPL4E266KF16G28 ones for around 70€ each, so 280€ total. We will see if they have the stock or it’s fake.

QVL won’t work for my case. They only have 2 RAMs and they are like 400€ each. I saw the table regarding Cezanne and SR/DR RAMs compatibility so I am going with that. The problem is that for 3200, only 2 sticks are supported for ECC. Unless I find 2666mhz 32GB ones, I am stuck with

i’m migrating slowly to DDR3 now and server-grade DDR3 is dirt cheap right now (unlike DDR4/5). I picked up 128GB for less than 30USD.

RAM prices will remain high for quite a period of time due to the AI thing.
