Electric Eel Intel Arc gpu passthrough support

When installing Plex or any app that needs GPU passthrough, the installation fails when I select GPU Configuration Passthrough Available (non-NVIDIA) GPUs

Any suggestions to get this to work? I have some apps that need to use my GPU for transcoding

Do you get a specific error when it fails?
I’d suggest raising a Jira ticket (with as much detail as possible) considering Electric Eel is in BETA and you may be hitting a bug.

I can’t find any related issues:

Yea looks like I am getting a similar issue

/dev/dri": no such file or directory

I just got Plex up and running with the EE beta … and my ARC A380 6GB GPU seems to be transcoding just fine

Did you deploy with Passthrough enable?

I did

Interesting, I wonder why I am having problems and you are not.

Did you upgrade to the EE beta or do an fresh install?

I did the upgrade

Plex does list my A380 for hw transcoding (I didn’t list that before)

I did do a fresh plex install instead of trying to migrate my old Kubernetes based Plex install from TrueCharts … if that matters

My Arc A380 is also working in Plex.

I initially did an upgrade from Dragonfish and it worked. Then I did a clean install and it still works.

I did a clean install and it works now. Can’t get it to pass through to a VM though

Are you using a VM or a Docker Container through the Apps menu?

I saw something that said Kubernetes in Electric Eel in the logs, but I thought that was removed.

I just used/installed the Plex app in EE

Those two things would be mutually exclusive. You may have had the Isolated GPU Device feature in Settings>Advanced enabled in your previous install. This would make it work in your VM but would prevent the APP from using it even if the checkbox you posted a screenshot were checked.

I haven’t tested this but I’m pretty confident that theory holds water.

One isolated GPU device can be used by a single VM. Isolated GPU cannot be allocated to applications.
