I brought up fangtooth beta and wanted to look at the capability to assign an IP to an app. I read that ZigbeeMQTT was one of the apps that now has that capability so I though I would give it a try. I went to the zigbeemqtt app install settings and it has that capability but it wont let me put in an IP address. Is there something else I need to do?
It’s not yet in the beta. Since all apps have to be updated to get that feature it’ll come at a later stage.
According to the documentation some “test” APPS are converted to test. One of them is the ZigbeeMQTT app.
Take a look…
Have you created an IP Alias yet?
Thanks Stux…No I didn’t set an IP Alias yet. I went back and searched and can’t find a place that I would set an alias. As my wife says I must have my man glasses on because I cant find that setting.
BTW much appreciation with the video’s and the help you do.
Create an IP alias, the assign the IP alias to the App. Let us know if it works or does not.
I figured it out. My Truenas VM was set to dhcp and the Network interface configuration did not show configuration of aliases. I set it to static and aliases showed up and I could assign another address to my interface.
I did some testing on per IP addressing. Most of the apps dont have the configuration yet to allow you to set the address but there are a few. I used it-tools app and it works.
A couple of finds…
Your Truenas cant be dhcp to set aliases…
The app’s web link points to the truenas main IP not the alias address.
Other than that it seems to work like a champ.
Of note: If you shell to the App and do an ifconfig it doesn’t show the alias address but a 172. address. First thoughts were “that’s weird” but then realized that truenas is a proxy for the app.
