Wait, which one is the real Kris Moore?
@krismoore or @kris ?
Their profile pics both look warm and friendly, just like the real Kris. I’m so confused.

Both me, just one work account (this one) and the other was my testing account for trying out oauth things originally. I’ll nuke the other.
Does it look better now?
You actually did choose Emperor Palpatine as the avatar?
This whole time I thought it was a troll who registered that username.
Absolutely, but specifically the Robot Chicken version. He’s my favorite Palpatine
No difference for me, but that’s probably because it depends on the default text size set per user preference?
FYI: I have my text size set to “Larger” in my user preferences.
(If I set my text size back to the default, it appears the same as in the second screenshot.)
EDIT: Personally, I’m “fine” with this, since using the “Larger” text size is a hard requirement for me. So hopefully those on the default text size will see an improvement in more efficient vertical real estate.
It stayed the same for me until i did a force refresh with shift+f5. Now it’s much better.
I think it does. I thought I saw someone earlier asking for larger avatars, so this may be a place where you can’t please everyone, but I think it’s better as it (now) is.
Worse than that, I saw someone request animated avatars. Some people are just crazy.
What lunatic would ask for such a thing?
One is Senator Palpatine, the other is Emperor Palpatine.
I start wondering how much work @kris has been putting on this new forum, which could have probably be best used on Core or Scale.
Feeling a bit down right now and trying to get my blames on an escape goat. Sorry for the goat.
@kris , nothing against you.
I have thick-skin, I can take it
But that said, I don’t contribute much code towards TrueNAS these days, and this hasn’t been a huge drain on me personally. But I do like to hear feedback from our users, and while something like a forums switch may not be perfect on day #1, we’ll always work to make it better. Big believer in incremental changes for progress, small steps over a period add up to big change.
From XenForo → Disourse, with a five-day window for users on the old forums, is not what I would call “incremental”. But I digress.
Don’t shoot the messenger! I’m just relaying what @winnielinnie told me.
Wait, which sockpuppet account am I currently logged in as?
The $1000 account you charged against, or was is CAD, €, ₽?
Ok - I guess my assumptions about what “SVP of engineering means” are wrong.
Either way, your efforts on getting the new forum right are definitely appreciated.
I would really like to see a Suggestions category in the Forum for users to vote on Suggestions to improve TrueNAS instead of over in Jira (which most folk only use to file bug reports).
I doubt many of you peruse the Jira forums to look over suggestions regularly, hence I propose the company consider moving them over here instead.
Bigger, more diverse audiences should better reflect what issues people care about while also avoiding the need for folk to have multiple login credentials just to file / review / vote for a suggestion.
That’s a nice idea! +1!
