Created boot media (25.04.1) for UEFI boot with the options for EFI and to configure admin through webgui. Installation media created correctly. Shutdown, removed installation media and replaced with boot drive.
“No bootable devices were detected.
Please attach a UEFI bootable device.”
Note that this setup works PERFECTLY with TrueNas Core (Legacy BIOS option and boot media).
Since it worked in Legacy mode, then I would make sure the boot mode of the server is set to UEFI boot mode and not Legacy Boot mode and that under the UEFI boot mode the proper boot device order is set and available.
From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Boot Options > Boot Mode.
Edit: The boot mode you use must match the operating system installation
You think I didn’t do that? Of course I did! The installer is garbage.when installing to USB. Switched bios boot back to legacy and swapped back my usb key for Core. Won’t be wasting more time on this version.
And if you ask why installing to USB, it’s because there’s no internal space for a boot drive, so I use a high quality large USB key with the system dataset moved onto physical storage drives.
Sorry if this came across as a “rant”, but I’m really unhappy having wasted around 6 hours on multiple attempts to build and deploy a USB key that will just start the boot phase. I’ve been using core for maybe a decade and never had such basic problems. I’ve also been using Linux for about 20 years (on desktops mostly) and never had problems with booting a new machine.
