Problem/Justification:
In TrueNAS all of the apps and VMs are in one long list. The problem is when running a bunch of them on the same system it can become very frustrating finding which apps and VMs are related to each other. I would like a feature that makes it possible to group multiple applications together for example: All apps or VMs related to my media management like jellyfin, radarr and sonarr into one group.
Impact:
This would help make managing large amounts of apps and VMs easier as it becomes possible to put them into their own group for their related function on a TrueNAS system. This would help make the GUI less cluttered when running large amounts of apps and VMs and also make sorting apps and their related functions easier.
This could also be expanded further to make it possible to limit resources for a whole group in the same way you can limit RAM and CPU threads for a single application today.
User Story:
As a user i want all of my Windows server VMs in their own group to make it easier to separate to from my Unifi container and game servers:
- I start off with creating the VMs or apps I want depending on if i am doing it for mt VM or my apps.
- I create a group and I choose which applications will be included in the group.
- After putting the applications in the group all of them can now be seen in the apps list under a dropdown menu for the group. (Similar to the dataset drop down menu)
- If I want to add a new app or VM to the group I can either make that choice at the creation of them or add them later from their settings.
