HBA Expander: matter which ports are used?

My motherboard has LSI 2308 8-port via 2x SFF-8087

Intel RES2SV240 24-Ports expander has 6x SFF-8087 two of which I used as uplink to the LSI 2308.

Remaining 4x SFF-8087 are connected to hard drives. Should I put zfs pool1 on ports 01-08 and pool2 on ports 09-16? or stagger them? Does it matter which ports are used?

Should not matter to ZFS.

I use the 36 port version.

I originally found the manual, which I quote in this post.

The main thing then is to set up the cables from the expander to your drives so that A goes to drives 1-4 etc

And the only real reason is so the drive chassis location stuff is correct.
