I live home with my wife, and I have about 5 computers
I installed TrueNas Scale, setting up a “user” for each computer.
After the first user (AsusKitchen), I am getting an error that “homedir already used by AsusKitchen.”
I don’t want a different directory, I want ALL my devices to be able to access the same directory.
Sorry I might sound dim, but. can you elaborate a lil bit?
Using the same user account for each client computer would be great, but I think I tried it, and in SMB, it was saying the server refused the connection, only one user was allowed?
My tree is similar to…
/mnt/HPML350eVault/Vault
I want everyone to have access to MPML350e and click /vault and be able to map that with a drive letter.
What do I need to click in what area, in what order to make that happen?
It’s certainly possible to have a given user logged into SMB from more than one computer at a time; I do it routinely. But really, the second bullet is the better way to go. You don’t need or want user home directories or shares, just create a share called “vault” (consult the documentation for instructions; link is at the top of every page in this forum) and give all the users access to it. Again, consult the documentation.
Installing on another server, the same thing happens.
I did read the documentation, created a share, etc.
/mnt/vault/vault
I gave EVERYONE and EVERYTHING access to the /mnt/vault/vault share, and I am still unable to log in using a computer with Windows 11 on it. I wish I could show some screen shots of the web UI and my file manager.
