I never did solve this problem directly but a reinstall of the official TN app, having deleted (more than) what I thought were redundant images and containers whilst experimenting, seems to have done the trick in that 0.14 is running on EE with nominal CPU burdens (comparable to 0.13 on DF).
It appears to me as though there was some sort of installation hang up with the way the official app was trying to mount the image or run the container. Clearing out the surplus has somehow allowed the process to run properly.
