Hi TrueNAS community,
I could use some help deciphering these emails that my systems sends regarding scrubs on my main storage pool.
“Storage” is a pool in raidz-2 with 6 drives. Its current size is about 7.5Tb. And is currently running TrueNAS-12.0-U8 Core. Here are the two emails I receive:
The first thing I see is a message that “Scrub of pool ‘storage’ started.” Makes sense. But above that notice in the first emails it says “The following alert has been cleared,” so did the scrub start or end? Since the emails are back to back right at 3am, did the scrub start and finish almost immediately? Is it trying to start a scrub right at 3am and erroring out? Why would it tell me it finished first, then started second?
Or, is the first email telling me that the scrub cleared and now in the second email a new scrub is starting? Does that mean the task doesn’t have enough time to complete and its starting over with a new command? Did the previous scrub take (n) number of days in-between scheduled tasks, didn’t finish by 3am, and is now triggering a new scrub in the second email, aka “Scrub of pool ‘storage’ started.”? Why would I be getting two emails for one scheduled task?
Also regarding the “Current alert” sections of the email - having a “current alert” of a “finished” scrub is a grammatical brain bender. I can’t make any sense of those in relation to the new or cleared alerts. I think these emails could be laid out a little bit better.
Thank you for for helping on what seems to be such a trivial matter!
