Homer App config.yml file editing best practice

So the only way I’ve found to edit the config.yml file for this app is to use nano editor inside shell as root user. SCALE seems to indicate I should NOT be doing this with message in the Shell, but it seems like all other options aren’t possible due to .ix-apps data being nearly welded shut in a “vault” with no SMB, SFTP, or other access that I’ve seen. Also the default setup of the Homer app doesn’t seem to allow me to put the config.yml file somewhere outside the “vault” either.

I am a beginner or barely intermediate techy person at best, so if anyone has advice please let me know, thanks!

The dashboard software? There are 2 different projects, one is Homer and the other is Homarr. Which one? And how are you doing the install?

You should be able to create a dataset/folder in a location that you also have smb access to then just bind that location to where the container is expecting it. I see that Homarr is in the catalog and the app config location section of the install UI lets you pick a hostpath instead of an iXvolume. That’s probably what you’re looking for.

Homer. Looking again I’ll try specifying assets to store in SMB and see if that works. My bad and thanks for helping.
