How does image updating for standard and custom apps supposed to work?

Hi! Apologeis if this is answered in another thread. Im trying to figure out how image updating should work in EE.

I have 2 use cases: Standard community apps, custom apps created through docker compose.

1st standard apps. It seems that I only see updates available when i reboot my system. I assume this is what the checkbox in settings is supposed to do, however, this does not seem to be working correctly.

2nd custom apps. Im not sure if that checkbox seems to apply to custom apps?

Of course, I can update via CLI, but it all seems that this might be unintended behavior of the OS??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Jason

It should be automatically letting you know when updates are available. I haven’t had any issue with those alerts appearing. If you want to check for updates in a less obtrusive way, you should be able to do so by going to the Discover Apps screen and clicking Refresh Catalog.

It should show custom app updates in the same way, but there is a known bug: 24.10 (Electric Eel) Version Notes | TrueNAS Documentation Hub

Installed custom applications do not alert for available updates in the TrueNAS UI (NAS-132202). A fix for this issue is expected in the 24.10.1 release version.

In the meantime, you can update via CLI as you said.

Thank you @DjP-iX !!
