Are you familiar with mDNS? Is macvlan support the feature needed for mDNS device discovery to work for installed applications? I was hoping the app IP update would allow it but it does not seem to be working still.

Believe so.

If apps can be deployed with a MACVLAN interace, then they are in effect little virtual machines connected to your LAN.

They can then use mDNS.
