I’ve tried almost everything, but it doesn’t work.
OpenWRT? Isn’t that meant for embedded devices like wireless routers?
Ummm
use OPNsense, or PFsense instead.
Otherwise, we’d need a lot more information about exactly what you’ve tried, and in what way it “doesn’t work.” And given that you’re two major releases out of date, perhaps try updating to the current version of TrueNAS and see if that fixes your issues.
I’m sorry for being silent. I just need a Wifi access point that will distribute the Internet from a virtual machine, I do not want to purchase separate equipment. It is not advisable to install Windows in a VM, since the hardware is weak. It did not work out to configure on Linux, USB Wifi does not work correctly. Thank you all for the answers. Maybe OPNsense is what I need.
They have x86 versions and it uses lower resources than pfsense or opensense.
Now, Access Points from USB dongles do not work well or are slow.
I looked at the OpenWRT website and it seems to distribute firmware images so I thought it was only for installation on separate devices. It replaces the firmware on something like a Linksys EA8300 wifi router. There may be x86 wifi routers but they are still just replacing firmware.
As to having a wifi AP in the virtual machine, isn’t that just a setting up the networking so the AP has to go through the VM?
Maybe I don’t understand the problem or solution you are trying to achieve
