Hello,
I need some advice on what to do in this case. I had a Truenas Scale 22.12 which worked very well for me, running my Nextcloud and Immich apps on it. The disk I was booting from has a capacity of 1TB, so I decided to use that one for data, and for booting I would use a 256GB disk I found, which should still have enough capacity for the operating system.
I tried cloning the disk first, but since I’m not some advanced Linux programmer, I used Macrium reflect to do it, so it probably won’t surprise you that it didn’t work. The second attempt was to mount this 256GB disk on the server, and add it to the boot pool, and that I would then take the 1TB disk away, but since it had a smaller capacity, that didn’t work either.
Then it hit me that Truenas has the ability to do a download of the set configuration - so I saved the configuration, and then I installed Truenas Scale version 24.10.2 on the 256GB disk (the data disks remained attached to the server), and after a successful installation, I uploaded the configuration I had saved.
However, this worked only partially. My settings remained, and the SMB datasets remained, so I can access some files from my PC.
But what didn’t work were the Immich and Nextcloud applications. When I turned it on, only the Immich app remained in the apps, but it didn’t remember any of my data, it was empty, the nextcloud app wasn’t even there. I realized I must have made some mistake, so I shut down the server and put in the original boot 1TB disk where the original Truenas Scale 22.12 was. However, after powering it on, it also shows only Immich in the apps, and it’s just as blank - so somehow I lost access to my data.
Can you advise me what to do in this case? I would like to have both applications with my data there again and I would like the boot disk to be the one with the 256 GB capacity, however as I mentioned, I am still learning so if you would have the patience to explain this to me as a 5 year old, I would be very grateful
