I’m running TrueNAS Community Edition 25.10.7 and recently updated several applications, including what I believe was Immich Kiosk. After installing another App, I noticed that Immich Kiosk was stopped and would not start. After troubleshooting, the problem appears to be related to the Immich Kiosk application update rather than Hermes.
Current environment
-
TrueNAS: Community Edition 25.10.7
-
Immich Kiosk: 0.54.0 (TrueNAS catalog version 1.0.26)
-
Previous Immich Kiosk: 0.44.2 (catalog version 1.0.25)
-
Main Immich installation: Running and healthy
-
Hermes Agent: Running and healthy
-
Kiosk port: 30408
-
Architecture: linux/amd64
Error when attempting to start Immich Kiosk
TrueNAS displays:
[EFAULT] Failed 'up' action for 'immich-kiosk' app.
Please check /var/log/app_lifecycle.log for more details
The application lifecycle log contains repeated errors:
[2026/10/15 11:09:47] Failed 'up' action for 'immich-kiosk' app:
permissions Pulling
kiosk Pulling
permissions Pulled
kiosk Error manifest unknown
Error response from daemon: manifest unknown
Subsequent attempts produce the same error.
Troubleshooting performed
1. Checked Docker containers
Ran:
sudo docker ps -a
Immich, Hermes, Plex, Gramps Web, and other applications were running normally.
Immich Kiosk did not appear in the container list, indicating its container was not being created successfully.
2. Identified the Docker image referenced by the current installation
Examined:
/mnt/.ix-apps/app_configs/immich-kiosk/versions/1.0.26/templates/rendered/docker-compose.yaml
The current catalog version references:
ghcr.io/damongolding/immich-kiosk:0.54.0@sha256:138c691695b3c759f70d15a8baea6636b5f4e55ae8fbf5272de1e124a4a7ae65
Testing the image tag:
sudo docker manifest inspect ghcr.io/damongolding/immich-kiosk:0.54.0
Returns:
manifest unknown
3. Checked the previous application version
The previous catalog version (1.0.25) references:
ghcr.io/damongolding/immich-kiosk:0.44.2@sha256:9df90bf970b7c0428e97c58de672cb23d08380dbf6d12420d07154dffa149b55
Verified the older version is available:
sudo docker manifest inspect ghcr.io/damongolding/immich-kiosk:0.44.2
This succeeded.
I also tested the exact SHA256 digest for the previous version, which returned a valid manifest containing an amd64 image.
4. Attempted to roll back to catalog version 1.0.25
The TrueNAS interface offers a Roll Back option and lists previous versions.
However, attempting to roll back produces:
[EINVAL] app_name: App must not be in stopped state to rollback
I also attempted the rollback through the TrueNAS API:
sudo midclt call -j app.rollback immich-kiosk '{"app_version":"1.0.25","rollback_snapshot":false}'
This produces the same error.
Unfortunately, the application cannot start because its Docker image is unavailable, and TrueNAS will not allow rollback because the application is stopped.
5. Verified previous deployment configuration
The previous application’s configuration directory still contains:
README.md
app.yaml
ix_values.yaml
questions.yaml
templates
user_config.yaml
The previous Docker configuration also uses port 30408, matching the current installation.
How do I fix this?
