Is there any way to assign a home directory to Admin/Truenas_admin

i created an admin, and truenas_admin. but they dont have any home directory, rather they both say /var/empty

due to some minor issues with some functions, i would like to assign these to /home/admin and /home/truenas_admin (either would do, dont need both)

any way to do this? i tried with usermod but it seems the database is locked so they cant be touched, and the gui doesnt allow it at all.

What OS version? TrueNAS Core or Scale?

truenas scale 25.04.1

Default install of that version shows this on user page. It has a home dir like you wanted. Maybe some history on your system. Was it Core to begin with? How did you get to where you are now?

it was core, and when i read they were going to add a truenas_admin user, i added it. because i didnt assign a home directory at that time, i am now prevented from doing it. shoulda let them do it via upgrade, but who knew…
