Jellyfin looses sync between audio and subtitles

Hello,
I’m using Scale EE RC2 but this has been a problem for a few weeks already.

It seems Jellyfin loses sync between audio and embedded subs (embedded in an mkv fo instance) when I do a fast forward for a few seconds. The video continues to play but subs are displayed either too early or too late.

Anyone with the same issue?
I would like to roll back to the previous version of Jellyfin (right now I’m using the latest (10.9.11) and I think the previous one was working fine.

Could anyone let me know if that’s possible (also because it went from kubernetes to docker if I understood it right).

Thanks
Nico

What device are you using to play the video?

FireTV? Roku? Computer web browser?

Hi @winnielinnie
sometimes I use my LG TV, or else a computer web browser.
At least with my computer I have this issue.

The reason I ask is because the Jellyfin app allows you to pick the “backend” media player.

I found that using libVLC (or VLC player[1]) works the best for video/audio/subtitle sync.

  1. As the backend player for Jellyfin. I’m not saying to actually open up VLC as its own application. ↩︎

I had that issue, too. If you can’t roll back, you can always try the nightly train, which fixed the issue for me.

Thanks I have tried it.
I installed it and it works perfectly.

But just for the record I could not find the backend media player selection in the settings…

Thanks for the tip, I just need to understand how to switch to the nightly canal of jellyfin…

It’s a client option. It’s not set on the server.

Yes, I tried the official linux client. I found indeed more options than on the server side. But I couldn’t find that one…

It might not be an option in all apps / platforms.

I know, for example, the FireTV (and possibly Android) app has this option.
