Just upgraded from DF 24.04.2.5 to EE 24.10.2.1 - Just two peculiarities seen

I took the plunge and upgraded from DF latest to EE latest :scream:

Both my systems are “pure NAS” systems , no apps installed.

It seems like it went well , but i noticed two alerts. When logging into the new EE.

1: I saw this alert on both machines:

1 API login failures in the last 24 hours: (username=root,session_id=41fc7f5d-0030-4a9c-8e38-a3e1eeaxxxxx,address=127.0.0.1)

Edit: The below appeared on my primary unit, after two reboots
Now they are consistent.

This forum really need a StrikeThrough button/feature.

2: This is strange, as i just saw it on my “Backup NAS” , not the primary.

New ZFS version or feature flags are available for pool 'Rust-Pool1'. Upgrading pools is a one-time process that can prevent rolling the system back to an earlier TrueNAS version. It is recommended to read the TrueNAS release notes and confirm you need the new ZFS feature flags before upgrading a pool.

It’s my first “Major upgrade” , so i’m a bit green here.
Both machines was installed in Q4 2024 - With DF 24.03
Then upgraded to 24.04 and then to latest 24.04.02.5 (I think/current latest).

I read about the ZFS Upgrade in the RN. And that if I apply it i cant do a fallback.

But why doesn’t that alert show up on the Primary unit ??
Has it been “autoupgraded” or ??

The backup uses 5 “old WD 4-TB and one new WD 4-TB”, but i expect them to be zfs initialized during install. Even though they have been used before.

How do i see what ZFS featureset i currently have on my VDEV … Or is it Pool ?

/Bingo

Ps:
I have no idea how to upgrade ZFS to latest featureset , or if i need to ??

Is it the upgrade button here ??

Pps:
Why do i just get ZFS upgrade alerts on my “RustPool” , and not on my SSD Pool ?
Edit: I just got on my ssd pool now.

Seems like ZFS version check is a tad slow to detect.

Upgrading the pool capabilities is the easy question to answer: “sudo zpool upgrade poolname”.

Whether to upgrade or not is a more difficult question. But my advice would be not yet - you will need to upgrade if you want to e.g. use RAIDZ expansion, and possibly block-cloning. But you should definitely wait to upgrade to the point where you are reasonably certain you are not going back to DF. (For the future, my advice would be to do a pool upgrade before you do a TrueNAS version upgrade - you are unlikely to want to go back two versions.)

Thanx … :+1:

How do you know i’m two versions back, can you see it somewhere on the GUI , or does ZFS capabilities always increment , when doing an upgrade.
I mean 24.3 ==> 24.4 ==> 24.10.

Any hints as how to list the current version of the ZFS version ?

Yes,
