LLDP in TrueNAS Scale

I see that the LLDP service was deprecated in TrueNAS Scale 22 or 23 but I do not see a reason why given in the documentation or the comments for the commits.

  1. Can someone explain why this was removed?
  2. Is there a plan to bring it back sometime in the future?
  3. If not, would a pull request implementing this service be rejected?

This should be moved to a feature request post if someone is interested in this functionality. There was alot of cleanup in between earlier versions and now, LLDP was probably removed as a “less used feature” for a “reduction of security surface area” or something.

This was around the same time VNC was removed, where previously we had dual stack VNC and SPICE, now we only have SPICE.
