Local SMTP server to connect to Google Account via OATH or SMTP Relay?

I have a Google Apps account… and as of today, Google broke my notification system. Apparently, the username/password that I was using for the past year is no longer valid.

Is there an App available that will act like a on-premise SMTP server and forward my messages over to the Google account?

You gotta dig around Google for these special single-use low security accounts so that our mail servers and other simple login apps can use gmail. I didn’t know they timed out but I guess they might be putting life spans on these eventually. I can’t remember what they call these special machine accounts but they have to be managed in a strange place in your Google account.

The good part? TrueNAS already supported OAUTH, so it was just a minor setting tweak. The bad part? Several other programs that have email notifications (e.g. Cyberpower, Acronis Backup, Audiobookshelf, Kavita) still use the username/password that Google Workspaces no longer supports. I have no interest in setting up a full-fledged mail service, so as a workaround, I’m using a free plan of a SMTP service as a workaround to restore functionality.

But, it doesn’t hurt to see if there is a Docker service to accomplish this task.

Damn, that first line is a heart breaker. We need to start planning ahead I guess or looking for alternative mail hosts.

Yeah we should probably start looking for some little Docker bandaid in the meantime.

I found a free service that allows me to send up to 300 message per day… which is about 280 more than what I really need.
