LSI 9400-16i Help

Hello Guys,

Just setup my TrueNAS machine to do some disks test. I had a 9400-1i laying (purchased earlier) and i updated the firmware back then. Here’s what i can see at the moment. I’m not sure which profile was flashed as it comes in SAS_SATA and NVMe Mixed version. Secondly, i’m not sure if it is running in IT mode.

Not sure if the JBOD is normal in this case. Also, is 49c a normal temperature or my HBA is overheating? I had a fan laying around so i put on it. Not sure if it helps any. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Given that the usual test is a finger test (when I press my finger against the LSI chipset, do I go Ow) I would suggest that 49 is OK

Feels normal. Neither too hot neither too cold to touch. Of course, the fins, did not touched the PCB.

If not mistaken it is in IR mode

If it is a LSI 9400-16i, would it even have an IR mode? That model number should be a ‘plain’ HBA but I am not familiar with the newer StorCLI software nor the results it returns compared to sas2flash and sas3flash.

The reality is you have to go over the documentation for that card and the software, StorCLI. It’s a bit confusing since they use the same for “MegaRAID” or refer to the newer series as such.

Was going off of the past:

As per my check, the LSI 9400-16i has only IT firmware available from Broadcom.
