Are you connected to the Wifi or to the TB adapter?
Both NAS and MBA are connected with Ethernet cable.
That is normal. If you use dongle or external dock Ethernet device is connected mostly via TB port using old TB 2 protocol and disconnect all Network Devices. Even me using multiple years only 10GBit dongle from Qnap are first 2-3 second needs to be Internet and Network device to be ready.
So there is no solution at all for “Server connections interrupted” on macOS and TrueNAS?
Disable sleep mode and other heavy power usage scenarios I don’t wish.
If you want use Sleep mode, definitely not. If You use Dock, dongle, then every power state in sleep mode on TB or USB4 will lead to disconnection. This is the way how the HW work.
I’m using only a WiFi connection on my MBP, but here are some observations:
The “true” pros connect a Thunderbolt 5 enclosure to their machine and live happily with that! ![]()

Seriously you cannot expect a network connection to stay alive if one of the two systems is hibernating.
Mac OS could do a seamless reconnect, but apparently doesn’t. That’s not fixable on the TrueNAS side.
