Migrating Truecharts Nextcloud Data to Truenas Offical Nextcloud

Hello!

I want to preface this by saying I am a SUPER NOVICE and everything will have to be explained to me like I’m 5 years old.

I just noticed that Truenas no longer supports TrueCharts apps. I have a Nextcloud app running that has A LOT of family photos and sensitive information that I’d like to keep! How can I install the truenas offical Nextcloud app and migrate my Truecharts nextcloud data to it without losing anything?

Thank you!

Same here. I have a boatload of TrueChart apps that need to be migrated to to TrueNAS official ones and I need the Pre-K step-by-step instructions so I don’t destroy the whole thing.

For all truecharts apps with databases you’d need to use heavyscript to create a database backup and pgadmin to upload that database backup to the new apps.
For all other apps, if you’ve used hostpath for app data storage it should be enough to set the new app to the old app data. If you’ve used pvc you’d have to mount the pvc using heavyscript, copy the data to another directory and then mount that as hostpath in your new apps.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, I don’t know what any of that means lol! Is there a “hold my hand and help me through this” tutorial for doing that?

I have lots of personal data that I don’t want to . mistakenly lose!

Don’t panic and resist the need to upgrade. Dragonfish will keep working into 2025.
By then, TrueCharts should have provided a solution to keep using their catalogue and/or there may be an official Nextcloud app—Electric Eel in in BETA, and the new app catalogue is a work in progress, this is not a good time for novices to migrate.

Whatever happens, the precious data (family photos and all) is hopefully fully separated from the application and is safe. The question is how to provide easy access to the data, not saving the data.
