Move Apps to another Pool (ElectricEel 24.10-RC.2)

Hrm, this didn’t work for me. I assumed that after a reboot, that my apps would be discovered.

I also tried the moving the ix-applications directory from my old pool as shown below, but that made no difference.

rsync -acX /mnt/<old_pool>/ix-applications /mnt/<new_pool>

EDIT:
This worked:

I’m not really sure why the apps still need to be associated with a pool under EE because they no longer use ix-applications and all the data is stored in /mnt/.ix-apps

The data is stored in <pool>/ix-apps, which is mounted at /mnt/.ix-apps

Gottcha. Thanks.

Finally having time to come back to this and needing to get something done one way or the other since the drives are starting to show unreadable sectors. I followed the guide by Stux and it worked like magic. Hopefully someone can build that into a script or wizard in the gui so that you simply select the old pool and the new pool and it handles the rest. Thank you @Stux for the effort in helping us gain back the functionality of moving pools.

Or you can change your pool and accept that some apps will continue to remain on the old pool for now

This option seems to be not true, when I selected Choose poolafter all of my apps disappeared from list (Scale 25.04).

It’s a feature in 25.10

Can I upgrade from 25.04.2.6 to 25.10, perform the migration, and then downgrade back to 25.04.2.6?

Any idea when 25.10 will go to the “General” release train?

If you touch nothing else, don’t update ZFS versions, technically you can, but I would backup configs just in case
