Moving from storage pools to TrueNAS scale

Hello All.

I’m new to TrueNAS (Yes I know late to the party)
I’m looking to setup a pretty simple setup for Nas and Jellyfin app for home use, the setup will consist of the following unless someone sees any hardware issue.

CPU is i5 13500. (Will be used for transcoding)
Mobo is asus prime b760m-k d4.
Ram is 64gb DDR4
12x 3.8 SSD drives.
corsair 400w power (May change this)

My question is around drive connection, I have use HBA card (H240) and pcie sata card in the past.

For the new setup should I be looking at something like a HBA 9400 16i ? Or I have read a lot about asm1166 flashed with Silverstone firmware?

What have other people used or recommended?

Threads are often unanswered if the title doesn’t make it clear what the issue is.
The broadcom HBAs certainly work well…

Thank you for the reply. I was leaning towards the HBA. I have seen some Lenovo 430 cards which seem to be similar to an LSI 9400 , but also seem good prices for LSI 9305. Are there any real advantages between them ? Eg: power efficiency, chipsets etc.

Widely used devices have all the firmware bugs shaken out…

I don’t know Lenovo.
