Multi gpu amd+nvidia

Im running a 4070 and 6800xt in my build. after enabling nvidia drivers in apps, i cant access my amd card. I can see the card is there from cli but I cant access it. Running scale 24.10 and I’d like to be able to run both gpus for different tasks. The nvidia card is running fine it’s just the amd card that seems to have vanished. Would this be a driver issue?

can’t isolate it from advanced settings or add as gpu passthrough for vms. it doesn’t show up in the UI anymore which it did prior to update.
i use multi gpu for various tasks one of which being render farming through blender instances in vms for models and video.

Can you please explain your setup in more detail?
Do you run VMs and need to pass the GPUs to (individual) VMs, or… ?
Is this a clean installation of TrueNAS and you try to do this setup for the first time, or did you upgrade from an older version an it now broke with the update?

i recently moved to a new mobo so i did a fresh install then loaded my config. both cards showed up as options for isolating prior to updating to electric eel. now only the card in the top pcie slot will appear as an option for isolating. if i try to attach the second card for pass through in a vm, it fails to start.

my desired use case is to have the 4070 as the gpu for my applications/docker and the 6800xt for pass through to vms. i can get this to work but only if i put the 6800xt on the top slot and drop the 4070 to pcie3 which has only been the case since updating to electric eel

That sounds a bit like the card is not inside its own IOMMU group unless you put it in the correct slot. However in that case the behaviour would be a bit different and it would have not worked in an older version of TrueNAS either.

I recommend that you create a bugreport, make sure to:

  • describe your setup in great detail (including the hardware)
  • explain what you want to do (what you just said in your last post)
  • and attach a debug log (the bug clerk will tell you how via a comment right after you post the report) :slight_smile:

The more details you put in your report the easier it is for the devs to help.
