Absolutely! Get a plain SAS HBA rather than a RAID controller, or expect to loose your pool.
Other than the RAID controller, I see no red flag in your build list, but this looks like an awful lot of power for an 8-wide raidz2 (not “RAID6”).
How is the storage presented to Veeam? SMB? NFS?
Or iSCSI?
