Hello, I am a first-time user of truenas scale and I would like to know if it is possible to change the TRUENAS name when clicking on network in windows explore, for example unraid, can I do this, would it be possible in truenas?
Another question, is it possible to specify a file type in the smb share folder, for example in folder X it is only allowed to create or paste .txt files, is this possible and where would I specify this?
Samba does not care about file contents. It knows nothing about file types. It knows only about file names. Raw Samba does has options to blacklist filenames (veto files). TrueNAS does not expose this feature any more since too many customers have bricked their systems with invalid manual configuration addons.
File extensions (names) are basically a cosmetic feature. They do not actually identify the file type. Filtering based on them (like .txt) is something that users have been bypassing since I was in school ages ago.
