New install for Fangtooth vs. Upgrade

Since I’m having a LOT of issues with middlewared startup when upgrading, I was considering a new install of FangTooth on a clean drive. If I back up my configuration, install FangTooth and restore, does that migrate the apps also?

I do have two jails using jailmkr.py, but I can recreate those. I’m just worried about all the configuration options I have for Plex, NextCloud, NGINX, etc…

My understanding is the config file does not include information about apps. However, since you aren’t disturbing the pool, when it gets re-imported by loading the config, TN should automatically pick up all the persisted app configs from the ix-applications dataset.

What version are you trying to upgrade from? I’d go to 24.10 before going to 25.04.
