New install moved lots of data

Just built a new NAS and copied over 8tb of data. I have never used TrueNAS before is there any maintenance I should run on the pool (or else) after? I know defrags have mostly gone out the window but I am not sure if I should do that or run anything else after copying over that much.

  2. Smart short tests
  3. Smart long tests
  4. Offline backups of your system config file

Also implement @joeschmuck’s Multi-report script to report on all of the above and send you a copy of your system configuration file, all by email.

Yep, pretty much what Protopia said. Scrubs are scheduled by default (not as frequently as I’d like, but they’re there); SMART tests aren’t and need to be. I’d suggest a short test daily and a long test weekly, but others’ recommendations may vary–just don’t have the long test overlap with the scrub. Joe’s script also handles the config file backups, so it’s a two-fer:
