I’ve been using Truenas Scale for a little while now and have a few datasets which I connect to directly via SMB shares from both my Windows and Mac machines.
I’m trying to move away from Onedrive and instead use Nextcloud.
I’ve got the Nextcloud app installed and followed the documentation to create the required 4 datasets. The userdata seems to work fine and I can, via the web portal, create and edit new files.
I have now tried to setup the external storage to take advantage of the SMB shares that I already have in place, however despite them being setup I get strange behaviour.
I’ve added ‘www-data’ as well as made sure that my global credentials have full control.
I seem to be able to create a new file (just simple text/md) but when I click on the file I just get a screen which doesn’t ever finish loading and I can’t actually add text to the file.
No errors are shown in the logging.
Interestingly I can’t delete the file directly either (only if I do it outside of nextcloud via the SMB shoe directly).
I have not tried adding the external storage into the app config (to then use as local) as I don’t believe this should be necessary.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on best practices for this sort of setup? I’m sure I am not the first one that wants to use existing Truenas SMB shares in Nextcloud.
Any help would be most appreciated.
