[Not Accepted] iDrac service module install on Scale

Copying from: ixsystems.atlassian.net/browse/NAS-115966

Problem/Justification
(What is the problem you are trying to solve with this feature/improvement or why should it be considered?) The dell ISM will enable 2 way communication between the OS and iDrac

Impact
(How is this feature going to impact all TrueNAS users? What are the benefits and advantages? Are there disadvantages?) We can see more info from the OS in iDrac and we can pull in info from the hardware in the OS like power usage. We can also use a script to control the server fans based on drive temperature.

User Story
(Please give a short description on how you envision some user taking advantage of this feature, what are the steps a user will follow to accomplish it) dell commands to control or pull data from iDrac will work from command line. We possibly have a home screen tile for power usage in watts as read from iDrac.

From the Manual:
The iDRAC Service Module (iSM) provides the following monitoring features:

Redfish profile support for network attributes
iDRAC Hard Reset
iDRAC access via Host OS (Experimental Feature)
In-band iDRAC SNMP alerts
View operating system (OS) information
Replicate Lifecycle Controller logs to operating system logs
Perform automatic system recovery options

Bump for support of this

Welcome to the TrueNAs forums.

I’m not saying this isn’t a good idea, however, it is about the votes and then if TrueNAS (the company) has a reason to implement it.

Make sure you vote when you can.

How’d you vote?
