To be honest, I never heard of Gotify however that is something iXsystem may desire or be willing to do, I see nothing as a red flag to including it as an option.
However to deal with your current issue:
Have you tried to sort your email and place the data into individual folders? It makes it significantly easier to locate all my server emails at the click of one button.
I sort my email and I have four email addresses that are all active. One for my primary account, one for the server email, one to support Multi-report, and one “disposable” that I can replace at any time should I need to. If you feel you get too much SPAM and there is no end in sight, might I suggest getting another email address just for your servers to send data to and you do not use it for anything else. Also you might want to retire your current email address and pick up a new one for your personal email.
There is no good way to get rid of SPAM but a new email address has been the easiest way. My main personal email address was created in 2001 and I rarely get SPAM on it. My wife has gone through many email addresses as she signs up for every thing she can subscribe to, then complains about all the SPAM. then we get another gmail account for her. Yikes!
Hello, this is not really a big big issue, but more a nice feature request.
Notifications apps like Gotify are light and easy to self host and use.
And they are not dependent on a third party internet server like e-mail, and not subject to any spam.
I proposed Gotify because it’s widely adopted by other homelab services like Proxmox, Uptime Kuma, Watchtower, and others…
If you never heard about it there is good videos in youtube :
There is a simple API to implement it (developper side),
there is also a web GUI, desktop app and mobile apps to read notifications,
the server can be implemented via docker,
and there is a second docker container for iOs iGotify app.
Interesting but I cringed when I heard “Push Notifications” as I’m so damn tired of my phone asking me to enable these for other apps. It drives me crazy when my phone just will not shut up.
But I could see this being pretty nice to use. I would not use it as I don’t have much to track and sorting emails work great and it takes very little time to read. I am tempted to try it out still.
