Paperless-ngx restore userdata from replication-Dataset

Hi,

I’m running Truenas Scale ElectricEel and my apps have been installed on an apps-Pool on a single SSD, which degraded (now I will have that as Mirror…).
The paperless-ngx-Dataset was on this SSD and contained “appdata” and “postgress”.
“Media”, “consume” and “trash”-Datasets were on another Data-pool (HDDs) and are intact.

Before the SSD died I copied the paperless-ngx-Dataset from the SSD to that Data-pool by a replication Task.

Now I have a new SSD with a fresh paperless Installation with the same Dataset-structure which works.

But as soon as I copy the content of the backup (appdata-Dataset and postgress-Dataset) to the same Datasets from the fresh install (I made SMB shares for both), the app does not start anymore.

During installation on the new SSD-Pool I put the same credentials.

My Question is:
How do I get back my old userdata (Tags, categorization etc.) on that fresh install.
I already tried to replicate the backup Datasets to the new app-pool and install into these Datasets without success

Please help!

Best,
Keule

Maybe a more general question:
What’s the best practice to backup the configuration of the Truenas apps?

Watching container logs should help you troubleshoot that specific problem.

The first things come in my mind to check are

  • environment variable
  • postgres dataset acl

Have you installed via yaml or from catalogue?
