PCIE Passthrough Intel Arc 310 -> system freezes on VM start

Hi,
i’m currently stuck getting an arc310 passed through to a vm.
I’m running an ivy-bridge based TrueNAS server (Xeon E5-2690V2 on a Supermicro X9SRL-F) and i want to switch to something newer. So i got a Skylake Xeon Silver 4114 and a supermicro X11 SPL-F motherboard.

In the older system i’m using a Arc310 and it’s working flawless passed through to a vm. So i wanted to replicate this success on my newer system before i move everything to the new platform. First i tested PCIE Passthrough with an RTX 3060 which i had available and it worked like a charm on the first try.
Then i got me another arc310 (Sparkle Omniview) since the 3060 imho is overkill for just doing video transcoding (and too big and too powerhungry).
So i went through the process of isolating the GPU, rebooting and adding the PCIE device to the vm (plain debian). Starting the VM now always results in a complete system freeze (of the TueNAS server). Deleting and recreating the vm changed nothing, even reinstalling TrueNAS did nothing.

My old machine ist running ElectricEel-24.10.0.2 the newer runs ElectricEel-24.10.2. Passthrough of an arc310 works on the old machine but not on the newer one. While passing through an RTX3060 does work.
Well, i could go with an nvidia card but the arc310 fits perfectly to my needs and i do have it running in my old machine. so i think there should be a way to get it also running on the newer one.

Next i’ll try 24.10.0.2 on the newer machine (actually just noticed running different versions) but i don’t have my hopes up that this will work.
Anyway i report my findings here and i’d welcome any input into this subject.

Update: Tried 24.10.0.2 on the Xeon Silver. Just as expected: Systemfreeze on VM startup with GPU passthrough…
