Possible Bug in UI

Hi guys,

sorry, don’t know where else to post this…
See the below, numbers are not aligned,
(Dragonfish: 24.04.1)

Even on of of the pics it is X out of Y for 2 pools and the 3rd pool implies Y out of X. → see bunker.

Pool tank is also based on 5 x 12 in RaidZ2. it’s 35TB useable.

See topology for tank vs Usage block.

G

usable Z2
3 x 11 2 x 11

…and that should be around 33 TB. ( 12 TB x 5 in Z2 )
I don’t see anything wrong on any of the pictures.

What do you see wrong ?

First picture,
App 27 used out of 403 avail.
bunker 10Tib used out of 4Tib avail…
tank 5.63 Tib used out of 26 Tib avail

bunker is clearly not possible.

Second topology picture, 10.9Tib listed in topology, Usage shows correct at 32Tib. … oh hold on, those 10.9Tib is the size it’s saying is potentially available per drive…

The day that I become the tyrant of the planet, I will enforce: total/used/available, in that order. Also, dates will be YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS everywhere.

So when 1984 comes along, remember to vote “@argumentum for tyrant of the planet”

It should be titled “Used / Free” - the available space is what is STILL available and not the total space.

Thats all well, but see the numbers for the bunker pool is switched around…

G

Bunker is using 10.4 TB and has still 4 TB free. Where’s the issue?

no sweat… user error… now understand how to intrepid the numbers…

G

That isn’t what “available” means–it isn’t “total space,” it’s “remaining space.”

he he he. ye eventually figured that out with enough prodding by fellow forum members…

duh me…

Also beware TB vs TiB.

TiB is 2^40 bytes whereas TB is 10^12 bytes which is about 10% less - so a 12TB drive is c, 12,000,000,000,000 bytes, which is c. 10.91TiB and this is what is shown in TrueNAS, and 3x this is 32.73TiB, less overheads leaving 32.16TiB useable.

Your tank pool is 32.16TiB, and you have 5.63TiB used and 26.53 free which total 32.16TiB exactly. QED

Thanks for the exact math, appreciated…

Def rather going to grow this pool vs rebuild 2nd pool… to kill the overhead lost.

Anyone point me to a good how to migrate datasets from Pool X to Y.
