I’m trying to setup the community version of gitea and wanted to use a host path for the postgres storage. This currently requires a user:group of 999:999. My system has a builtin user ‘netdata’ with uid of 999, but its group is 997. The 999 group is a builtin group ‘docker’. Is this normal?
if u go to shell in truenas,
type id
then check id netdata
and if u made one for docker later, type id docker
it will show u the uid gid and groups.
for netdata mine is similar to yours, so i think it’s normal?
but i think stuff like mongodb has permissions for 999:999
yet we are in a situation where netdata is 999:997
will that be an issue? uh…
You’ve resurrected a zombie thread here, but to answer the question, no it is not an issue. The container needs permissions on the host for 999:999. In the container this is docker:docker. On TrueNAS it is netdata:docker. As long as the UID and GID is correct for permissions, neither side will care that the name is different.
