I am having trouble figuring out how to move my apps dataset from one drive to another that already has data sets on it. It’s all local to the machine any help would be greatly appreciated.
Which version of trurnas do you use? In 24.10 there was no build in way, that was only added in 25.04 or 25.10 can’t remember when…(At least for apps that use IXVolume) If you use hostpaths you have to migrate them manually
25.10 - I have one pool just for apps but the drives are failing and I don’t want to re set up all the apps on the good drive pool.
@DjP-iX but that will only migrate the iXVolumes to the new pool and not the data in hostpaths, correct? That will have to be migrated manually (at least that was always my understanding)
Correct. I assumed that’s what @LowKey meant by “apps dataset,” but yeah, migrate the apps dataset itself using the apps UI and then any host path mounted datasets can be replicated using the normal dataset management tools (and the app storage configs updated to reflect the new locations).
Yeah the data in the host paths for the apps. Is there a easy to just copy it over so the apps function as they normally would once moved?
Not entirely, the easiest way to migrate the hostpath datasets would propably be snapshot replication from the old to the new pool, but you will have to edit the apps config and adjust the path from the old to the new pool.
Edit:
Before creating the snapshot for the replication i would propably stop all running apps, so there are no more pending writes to the datasets
