Recommendations for Short Form Factor HBA?

Hello,

I am looking for an HBA card in a short form factor (because of space constraints). The card shall be used to connect to an external JBOD with 8 harddrives.
So far I found the following cards:

  • ServeRAID H1110 (PCI-E 2.0 x4, Connectors: i4, SAS2004)
  • ServeRAID M1210 (PCI-E 3.0 x4, Connectors: i4, SAS3008)

Both should be able to be flashed to IT mode, so I assume both would work fine with TrueNAS.

  • Do you have any information about the power consumption of both cards?
  • Do you know any further short form factor HBAs which could be of interest?

Hints:

  • In case the card only provides internal SAS connectors, I will use an adapter to convert the connectors to external ones.
  • For the cooling I will mount a fan on top of the card.

All LSI9200/9300-8e or -8i cards I’ve seen are short, half-height cards.

I am not talking about the height of the card, but about the length of the card (sorry for confusion).

Yes, and I concur with @etorix that all the relevant cards I’ve seen are both short and half-height. IOW, he already answered your question.
