Which method is best practice and quick note as to why or why not?

  1. ZFS Snapshot
  2. SMB Share
  3. Mounted dataset copy
  4. rsync command

Snapshot based on the information given

Thanks. Based on this recommendation, I started a ZFS Replication task from a Snapshot with an SSH bridge from TrueNAS1 to TrueNAS2. It’s a big dataset that I will be splitting into smalled datasets, so I expect to accomplish this with rsync on the destination TrueNas instance once everything transfers.
