I wanted to install the fangtooth public release from scratch over top of my existing dragonfish installation. I didn’t want to go the upgrade path from prior issues I am having with upgrades. If I boot off of a fangtooth installation USB drive and format my existing boot drive, can I still import my existing datasets that are on separate disks? I don’t mind resetting up my apps, permissions, etc, I just don’t want to lose my existing datasets/SMB files. My existing datasets are on separate disks from boot of course.
I think you mean “pools” rather than “datasets,” and yes, you can.
That is, of course, inherent in the design of TrueNAS.

Thanks, obviously I’m no expert (appreciate the help). Datasets exist on a pool? Is that the correct terminology?
Correct.
