Replacing a disk, offline entire pool while badblocks'ing?

Hi,
In Truenas Core 13, I have finally come to the point where I need to start replacing disks. I have 6 disks in RAIDZ2 and ada1 was slowing the entire pool to a halt, so I have already offlined it.
Tomorrow I am buying two new disks. (I fear ada6 will go soon)

What is the best course of action? Ideally I would like to run badblocks on the new drives because it seems recommended.

I am prepared to live without my pool for a week or two. Should I offline/disconnect the entire pool in order to not have the other five disks disks running and spinning prior to resilvering the new drive. And with the pool offline or cables disconnected, run the badblocks check in a free HDD SATA slot?

Or should I skip badblocks and just slot the new drive in and hope it’s not a lemon?

Thanks for any advise.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I do like burning disks in first however if my Z2 had dropped a drive and I had a spare I think I’d just replace it. As Dr Pepper would say what’s the worst that can happen.
