Safely Remove a Mirror from a Double MIRROR aka "2 x MIRROR | 2 wide | 3.64 TiB"

HI all,

i have currently this setup:

Due to restructuring some files, i dont need a Double MIRROR for this VDEV, a Single MIRROR will be enough.

I saw this “option”:

Would TrueNAS automatically try to move files (the amount of size on this VDEV is currently just 1,7TB, so enough to fit into 1 MIrror) to MIrror that is not being detached, or what happens here?

Are there other ways (with temporarily accepting the risk of no redundancy) to move back to Single VDEV Mirror?

As long as you have enough space on the single mirror to take all the data - then yes. This is one of the advantages of mirrors
