Same drive showing up twice in Pool, one faulted

Morning all.

So with the release of electric Eel, I decided it was finally time to expand the capacity of my offsite backup server, which has been sat at 90% capacity for a while now (yes, i know, i know). I was having some issues with it, as seemingly new drives kept faulting, and at one point, had 3 drives faulted (16x8Tb drives in Raidz3). After visiting my friend who kindly hosts the server for me, and taking a load of spares, I identified the issue as either a bad backplane on one of the rows of my 24x chassis, or a bad HBA, as all but one drive faulted, but then this cleared on another reboot.Thankfully I had brought 2 spare drives with me, so i dropped dropped both in, and started the expansion. After only a few minutes of expansion, a drive dropped, I took the bad drive out and tested it in my USB Toaster, and it is indeed bad (fails SMART, only had 500 hours on it). I invoked the 2nd spare as a replacement, and thats been rebuilding now for the past few days (I’m now back home). The resilver completed, and the expansion resumed, and has as of now reached 26.23% (i’ll come back to that in a second)

Heres where it goes strange. Since my hardware issues started, the server has been painfully slow to load drive data in the GUI. When i go to storage, the page template loads, but its a good 45 to 60 seconds before it lists the drives. Since adding the replacement into the pool, I have two entries in drive list for /dev/sdf, both with the same serial number, one faulted, one not. I don’t think the new drive shows in the pool in the GUI yet, but I have 17 drives (when counting the 2 entries.). Its been like this since that first drive failure, and has been rebuilding since. I’d hoped that once the rebuilt was completed, it would sort itself out, but this morning, its stopped again at 26.23%, stating “expand: expansion of raidz3-0 in progress since Tue Nov 26 23:17:57 2024
27.2T / 104T copied at 44.5M/s, 26.23% done, paused for resilver or clear”.
Above it states “status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing or
invalid. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue
functioning in a degraded state.”

At this point i decided it was time to consult the experts (thats you lot  )

Here are some outputs, hopefully they make more sense to you…

I have the same issue. One disk shows twice with same drive name, one faulted one ok. Also, one disk of the pool was disconnected and won’t reconnect. Have you been able to fix it?

You need to provide some more details. Run the following in a Shell window and post back using Preformatted Text (</>) or Ctrl+e. This will show like in the original post your pool status

Could you also post hardware and OS details like the original poster had too, please
