these months I’m in big trouble with my SATA EXtender which cause a lot of my disk to go failed.
I’m wondering what are the best PCI SATA Extender I can buy for my home trueNAS Core.
I searched the forum but I didn’t find any specific.
In the past, someone in this community, used bad words about my current expander, but he/she didn’t gave any useful advice.
Have you any?
The answer hasn’t changed in 10 years–a LSI/Broadcom/Avago 2008/2308/3008-based SAS HBA. This has been in the hardware recommendations guide since forever.
I would shelve the extender and go with an HBA adapter.
Most reliable option is a non counterfeit LSI HBA flashed with the latest version of the IT firmware.
And as a bonus, you can then use SAS drives and expanders too
