I have had nothing but problems setting Scale up after moving from core.
Now I lost power for a few days and I replace my router plug it back in and pools, datasets, apps all gone.
WTF!!!
I have almost 6 tb of data and it is gone because of a power outage???
The boot install is fine, and if I boot into bios the drives are fine but the media, backups are all gone.
months of getting a media server up and running all gone because scale sucks if the power goes out. wonderful.
Why have you posted twice: here and Pools lost but can be seen ?
If you want help to try to get your data back online then you need to stop griping and ask for help instead - and provide us with details of your hardware and pool configurations.
In the mean time here are some commands to run (and please paste the output from each into a separate </> box):
lsblk -bo NAME,LABEL,MAJ:MIN,TRAN,ROTA,ZONED,VENDOR,MODEL,SERIAL,PARTUUID,START,SIZE,PARTTYPENAME
sudo zpool status -v
sudo zpool import
lspci
sudo sas2flash -list
sudo sas3flash -list
sudo storcli show all
Did you upgrade your pool ZFS flags? if not, then you should be able to load up a Core install, and import your pool to recover your data.
I will say that I’ve not had your problem with Scale and power outages, my lab has been on scale for over a year and not on a UPS either, several outages have come and gone and no data got lost. This was storage for my VMs, so there was “constant” activity from the Windows VMs.
Gotta say I’ve had a few power outages over the last few years, 6 pools, 120 disks, very active 24x7, no UPS, and I’ve never lost anything.
What do you mean you “replace your router” ?
I’ve replaced routers and switches on my several times in my lab, and once in my production, no issues there either.
It is designed to not brick your storage, you might lose a small amount of in flight data, but that’s it. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.
